Southern California Youth Rugby (SCYR, Inc.) is USA Rugby’s State Rugby Organization (SRO) responsible for all youth and high school rugby in Southern California. SCYR is the nation’s largest SRO showcasing the area’s passion for rugby growth amongst the youth and communities. As an SRO, SCYR reports directly to USA Rugby, the sport’s national governing body (NGB).
SCYR, Inc. was formed January 18, 2006. Governed by a Board of Directors, with Officers making up the Executive Committee, SCYR, Inc. was granted 501(c)3 non-profit, California corporation status in early 2012.
SCYR is experiencing tremendous growth amongst its youth and high school forums inspired by the addition of the 7s game in the Olympics, the continued climb and success of the USA Eagles, the international events hosted in SoCal such as the Los Angeles Sevens and Los Angeles International Youth Tournament and lastly, the addition of Major League Rugby and Southern California’s team, San Diego Legion.
